Objective

Students will develop vocabulary words relating to germs.

What Students Do

Students will complete a crossword puzzle and a word hunt.

Materials Required

• “Crossgerms” crossword puzzle (blackline master 3.7A PDF)
• “Germ-bustin’ Word Hunt” puzzle (blackline master 3.7B PDF)

Advanced Preparation

• Duplicate blackline masters 3.7A and 3.7B PDF, back to back, one per student.

Suggested Sequence

1. Distribute puzzle worksheets.
2. Have students complete the worksheets, alone or in groups.

Check for Understanding

Review the answers to both puzzles.

Extensions

• Have students make their own crossword and/or word hunt puzzles using other words they have learned.
• Ask students to rewrite the definitions to the crossword puzzle so that they are different but still accurate.
